On this post i will be collecting all the rumours for the Microsoft Xbox Scorpio as we get them.
We are expecting to see the introduction of the Xbox Scorpio around Christmas 2017.
The estimated price for this new console is anywhere from £300 – £550
Phil Spencer said:
“We’re not ready to announce something right now, but you can imagine at the price point of Scorpio – which we haven’t actually said, but think about consoles and where they live in terms of price point – having something at six teraflops that will get millions of people buying it is very attractive to some of the VR companies that are out there already, and we’ve architected it such that something will be able to plug right in and work.”
It has been said that the Xbox Scorpio will feature six teraflops of graphical power making it very much fully VR capable. Also making it more powerful than the PS4 Pro by a fair bit. We also know that Microsoft will be using an AMD chip which should support VR, 4K and HDR.
The Six teraflops of power in prospective is 3 teraflops less than the Nvidia GTX 1080 which will put it around the power of a GTX 970
We are expecting some changes to the standard controller from the Xbox One but its highly likely it will be nothing major.
Xbox Scorpio will be VR capable and Oculus have helped develop this so will the Oculus be a compatible headset?
The rumour is that the Xbox Scorpio will play all Xbox One games and make them much smoother but any games made for the Xbox Scorpio will not work on Xbox One.
Microsoft have announced there will be a briefing at E3 on the 11th june 2017.
