DrunkDeer A75 Ultra Review — Magnetic Precision

In a crowded field of high-end gaming keyboards, the DrunkDeer A75 Ultra comes in with bold claims of ultra-low latency, advanced Hall Effect magnetic switches, and esports-ready responsiveness. But does it live up to that hype when put to the test? We’ve spent time gaming, typing, and digging into its feature set to bring you this review.

Design & Build — Futuristic But Not Quite Perfect

The A75 Ultra’s 75% layout strikes a balance between the ultra compact 60% layout of the X60 Future we recently reviewed and a full-sized keyboard, adding in a few extra keys, making it slightly more user-friendly in a few different user cases. The A75 Ultra adds a couple of extra rows when it comes to keys so it is slightly larger than the X60 Future, but not by much, and it’s still more than compact enough for most desks. The Styling of the A75 Ultra also differs from the X60 Future with a “mecha fighter jet” aesthetic, with sharp angles and the distinctive DrunkDeer logo volume knob that sets it apart visually from many flat gaming boards.

The Build quality impresses again here, like it did with the X60 Future: despite using some plastics, the keyboard feels weighty and stable during all use cases. It lacks the underside RGBs like the X60 Future, but some will argue that the feature isn’t really seen, so it wouldn’t be missed.

Switches & Performance — Ultra-Low Latency for Competitive Play

Where the A75 Ultra really shines is its magnetic switch system. Powered by DrunkDeer’s Hall Effect sensing with up to 8000 Hz polling and 8 kHz scanning, it delivers amazingly fast and genuine sub-millisecond responsiveness!

Rapid Trigger and adjustable actuation profiles let you tune key sensitivity for different games or typing tasks, while RT Match helps auto-calibrate over time to maintain consistency.

Gaming sessions felt snappy and precise, with no noticeable dropouts or ghosting even in high-speed scenarios. The software suite still lags behind some rivals when it comes to polish, though, with bugs in toggles and missing advanced controls like macros and analogue mode.

Typing Experience & Features

Typing on the A75 Ultra is really satisfying! The magnetic system delivers some really smooth actuation with minimal friction, and foam dampening helps keep noise down.

If using the A75 Ultra for typing, some users will probably want to play around with the sensitivity, as accidental keypresses will be a guarantee at first without a bit of practice.

The unique Dual Solution Instant Switch allows you to adjust the feel between softer and firmer key travel on the fly by pushing the toggle in from the back. You can feel the keyboard is much firmer when typing compared to when it can move more freely without it.

Some might feel having to turn the keyboard over and actually push the toggle in is a bit of a faff compared to something like the Acer Aethon 700 we tested previously that utilises a switch on the top, which feels far more convenient.

RGB lighting is vibrant and fully per-key with plenty of options available in the web-app. The key caps are nice and vibrant, being totally clear. It can, however, be difficult to know what key is being pressed if you look while typing, as all letters are black and don’t shine through with the RGB

Verdict:

The DrunkDeer A75 Ultra is a compelling mid-to-high-end gaming keyboard that offers exceptional responsiveness, innovative magnetic switch tech, and bold aesthetics.

For gamers focused on performance and competitive edge, it really delivers! Especially considering its real-world low latency and adjustable actuation.

As with the X60 Future, its software isn’t quite up there with the best, but the good thing is, this can be fixed in time, and the actual hardware is great!
